Saturday falls short of Friday's promise for Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP
After an encouraging opening day, Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP faced a more difficult Saturday at Mandalika. Jack Miller finished the Sprint in 13th position, while Toprak Razgatlıoğlu’s progress was interrupted by a highside crash that left him with a dislocated shoulder.

Saturday at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit proved more challenging for Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP than Friday’s encouraging start had suggested. After showing improved feeling with the YZR-M1 on the opening day, both riders had hoped to build on that progress, but the day took a difficult turn for Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, while Jack Miller was able to maintain the positive direction established on Friday.

Razgatlıoğlu suffered a highside crash midway through Saturday morning’s Free Practice session, resulting in a dislocated shoulder. After receiving medical attention and having the shoulder put back into place, the Turkish rider returned to the track for Q1 and later took part in the afternoon Sprint. However, understandably, he was unable to make the most of the feeling and progress he had shown on Friday, with the crash significantly affecting his day.

Miller, meanwhile, completed a more consistent Sprint, fighting around 12th and 13th position throughout the 13-lap race before crossing the finish line in 13th. While the result remains short of the positions the Australian and the team are targeting, it represents another step in the right direction after Friday’s promising start.

The progress shown by Miller over the first two days is an encouraging sign for Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP, particularly after four difficult rounds in which the team had struggled to find a consistent feeling with the YZR-M1. The focus now turns to Sunday’s Grand Prix, with the team aiming to build on the improvements made so far and hoping Razgatlıoğlu can recover as well as possible following his injury.

Overall, I would say the weekend has started in a much better way compared with the last two Grands Prix. Unfortunately, Toprak was unlucky with the crash this morning and injured his shoulder. We hope he will be able to manage the situation better tomorrow and that the pain will not affect him too much during the race.

With Jack, things have been much more positive. We have seen progress since Friday, and he was able to fight throughout the Sprint, which is encouraging. For tomorrow, our target is for him to get back into the points. I believe that is a realistic objective based on the progress we have made so far, and we will do our best to achieve it.

It was a decent day overall, although we missed the mark a little this morning in Free Practice 2 and qualifying. The grip level had dropped overnight, and the rear of the bike was much too stiff with the setup we were trying, so I struggled to get the feeling I wanted. I also had a small crash after pushing a bit too hard, but we managed to get things back in the right direction for the Sprint.

The race itself was pretty decent. We found a better setup, and the bike felt competitive from start to finish. I got stuck behind Marini for quite a while, which made it difficult to make a pass because the Honda has so much acceleration. We had a bit of a battle, and by the time I finally got through, the race was almost over. But the pace was encouraging, and I think we’re in reasonable shape for tomorrow.

I’ll stick with the medium tyre for the Grand Prix. It feels more stable over the longer distance, especially when the temperature rises, and I’m confident it can last the race. The circuit is physically demanding, particularly through the changes of direction, so recovery will be important tonight. Hopefully, we can get the tyre pressures right tomorrow and have a stronger race.

Before qualifying, I had a big crash and dislocated my shoulder. We put it back into place, but I’m still feeling the pain, which is normal. I could also feel that my right shoulder had less strength during the Sprint, but I tried my best to manage the situation and finish the race.

On the bike, we still need to improve a few things, particularly with the electronics in some corners. I’m also losing quite a lot of time in Sector 2, and if we can make a step there, I believe we can improve our pace significantly.

Tomorrow’s race will be long and difficult for everyone, especially with my shoulder not being at 100%, but I will give my best and hopefully achieve a better result.
