Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP Gathers Valuable Data in Silverstone Sprint

Jack Miller showed strong late-race pace with the medium rear tyre, while Toprak Razgatlıoğlu faced a significant rear tyre drop in the closing stages of the Silverstone Sprint. Both riders and the team now turn their attention to Sunday’s Grand Prix.

Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP completed a demanding Sprint at Silverstone, with the two riders following different tyre strategies and gathering important information ahead of Sunday's Grand Prix. Jack Miller opted for the medium rear tyre, while Toprak Razgatlıoğlu chose the soft, with both solutions providing the team with valuable data on tyre behaviour over the Sprint distance.

Miller endured a difficult opening phase as the medium tyre took longer to reach its full potential and he lost several positions in the early laps. As the race progressed, however, the Australian's pace improved significantly and he was among the fastest riders on track towards the closing stages. The performance of the medium tyre confirmed his decision as a useful option for the longer Grand Prix distance, while also providing important information for Sunday's strategy.

Razgatlıoğlu experienced a more challenging Sprint. After a relatively positive start, the rear tyre suffered a sudden drop after the opening laps, making it increasingly difficult for the Turkish rider to turn the bike and maintain his pace. The team will now analyse the data to understand the reasons behind the behaviour and identify possible solutions before the Grand Prix.

With the Sprint offering different indications from the two tyre choices, Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP will use Saturday's data to prepare for Sunday's longer race. The focus will be on finding the best tyre and set-up combination while maximising the progress made throughout the weekend.

Today was a difficult Sprint for Toprak, and we're already analysing the data to understand what happened and help him find a better solution for tomorrow. The rear tyre drop was quite sudden and forced him to slow down significantly in the final part of the race, so this will be one of our main areas of focus ahead of the Grand Prix.

Jack made a more unconventional choice with the medium rear tyre, but the decision was justified by the performance he was able to produce towards the end of the Sprint. His pace in the closing laps was among the strongest on track, in some cases even faster than the riders at the front. Unfortunately, starting further back meant that he lost some positions during the opening stages, otherwise the final result could have been considerably better.
At the same time, today's Sprint has given us useful information for tomorrow. We'll analyse all the data and use what we have learned to prepare as well as possible for the Grand Prix.

I opted for the medium tyre, and I knew the first few laps would be difficult because most of the others were on the soft. I also didn't get the best start, despite making a good jump, because we had reduced the power slightly this morning and I struggled a little in first gear on the way to Turn 1. On the medium tyre, that made the opening laps even more difficult, and I lost a few positions.

After that, though, the medium became stronger and I was able to start coming back towards the riders ahead. Towards the end of the Sprint I was one of the fastest riders on track, so there was definitely good potential in the tyre choice. We saw a significant drop from the soft tyre over the race distance, and having tried the soft for long runs during the weekend, I wasn't confident it would be the right option for me. With my riding style, I rely a lot on the edge of the tyre and need the bike to turn well on corner entry, so the medium gave me a more consistent feeling.

We didn't score any points today, but I think it was a useful experience and we learned some important things for tomorrow. Silverstone is always demanding on the tyres, so you have to manage them and be as smooth as possible. Hopefully we can use what we learned today to make the right choice for the Grand Prix.

It was a very difficult Sprint and I'm quite surprised by how much the rear tyre dropped. At the beginning the feeling wasn't too bad, although we were still working on the turning of the bike after trying a different set-up for the race. I had already felt some spinning with the soft tyre in the morning, but I didn't expect the drop to be so significant after only four or five laps.

Once the tyre started to drop, I lost almost all the rear grip and it became very difficult to turn the bike and carry speed through the corners. My lap times dropped dramatically and I was no longer able to ride in the way I wanted. I checked the data with my crew chief afterwards because I wanted to understand why my tyre performance was so different from the others. Everyone had some drop, but mine was much bigger, and that's something we need to understand.

Without that tyre problem, I think I could have fought with the KTM riders and perhaps stayed closer to Alex, so there was definitely more potential today. Tomorrow everyone will have different tyre options, but we still need to work on the rear grip and the bike set-up. I'm also continuing to adapt my riding style to MotoGP and trying to learn from Jack and Fabio, especially in terms of corner speed. We're still searching for the right set-up and the right rhythm for my riding style, but we'll keep working and see what we can improve for the Grand Prix.
