Determined effort from Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP in demanding Mugello Sprint
Jack Miller and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu battled through one of the most challenging races of the season for the Yamaha package, with the Sprint at Mugello once again highlighting both the strengths and the remaining development areas of the YZR-M1.

TOPRAK RAZGATLIOGLU +25,423 / 11 LAPS
Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP arrived at Mugello fully aware that the Italian Grand Prix would represent one of the toughest tests of the season. With its ultra-fast layout and the famous 1.1-kilometre main straight, the Tuscan circuit places a particular emphasis on engine performance and top speed.
The Sprint race confirmed the encouraging progress Yamaha has made in recent months. The YZR-M1 once again proved highly competitive in terms of chassis performance, cornering ability and electronics, allowing both Jack Miller and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu to remain in contention through the technical sections of the circuit. Both riders were able to defend their positions through much of the lap but were unable to turn overtaking opportunities into lasting gains.
Despite the demanding nature of the circuit, Miller and Razgatlıoğlu continued to fight throughout the Sprint, gathering valuable data and further confirming the positive direction of the project. They crossed the finish line in 16th and 17th position respectively.
Sunday's Grand Prix will present an even greater challenge over race distance, but the team will look to build on the information collected today and continue extracting the maximum from the package as development of the YZR-M1 progresses.

Unfortunately, after Toprak’s crash today everything became a bit more complicated. We had to rebuild a bike, but the most important thing is that the rider is okay and was able to continue the weekend.
As we expected, Mugello is proving to be a difficult circuit for us because of the long straight. We know where the bike is still struggling, particularly in terms of top speed, so even being able to stay in the slipstream of the riders ahead is already important for us. The problem is that, while we can often stay close, we still lack the performance needed to complete overtakes and hold on to those positions.
The positive aspect is that the bike continues to show very encouraging signs in the corners. The chassis package remains one of our strengths and once again confirmed its competitiveness throughout the race.
We know that with a little more performance we could become genuine outsiders at many circuits. For now, our focus is on extracting the maximum from the package we have while continuing to build on the positive progress we are making.

Today was a really demanding race because of the heat and the conditions. We were pushing the soft rear tyre right to the limit, trying to maintain the same corner speed while picking up the throttle earlier to compensate. Unfortunately, with three laps to go, while battling with Fabio and Maverick, I made a small mistake going into Turn 10. I ran slightly off line through the chicane, touched the dirty part of the track and lost the rear, which cost me any chance of staying in the fight.
At the moment many of our difficulties still stem from the engine side. We are working hard and making progress, but when you have to brake later and open the throttle earlier than everyone else just to stay in the game, it creates a knock-on effect throughout the lap and makes life much harder for both the rider and the tyres.
That said, there are positives. The bike is turning a little better and we continue to find small improvements every weekend. Here at Mugello we can at least stay in the slipstream, even if converting that into overtakes remains difficult.
Tomorrow's long race will be another challenge, but we will keep focusing on the positives, gathering data and continuing to improve the bike. Looking ahead, some of the upcoming circuits should suit our package better, and hopefully we can take another step forward there.

Today’s crash was completely my mistake. I was trying to work with the front ride-height device and, after using it once, I tried it again on the straight. I lost the front unexpectedly and crashed. It was a strange accident and one that surprised me, which is why I am particularly disappointed. I’m also very sorry for the team because the bike was heavily damaged in what was ultimately a very unnecessary crash.
After the accident it was not easy to rebuild my confidence. Mugello is already a difficult track for me because of the long, fast corners, and after losing the front on the straight it became even harder to fully trust the front tyre. That is something I still need to improve as I continue learning and adapting to MotoGP.
Even so, there were some positives. During the Sprint I improved in several areas of the circuit and started to better understand how to use the front tyre and manage the braking phase. We also analysed the data and identified a few specific corners where I am still losing a lot of time compared to the other Yamaha riders.
The gap is mainly coming from a small number of corners, but together they make a big difference over a lap. We know where we need to improve and I will keep working to adapt my riding style and build more confidence with the bike. It is not easy, especially at a circuit like Mugello, but step by step we are making progress.
