A solid day of development work for Jack Miller and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu in Buriram, as Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP continued to gather important data at the Chang International Circuit. During the morning Free Practice session, both riders focused primarily on evaluating electronic settings and refining different solutions, while the target for the afternoon Practice was to attempt a fast lap.

However, changing conditions complicated those plans. Dark clouds loomed over the circuit throughout the session, with teams preparing wet tyres in anticipation of rain. Although only a few drops eventually fell, strong gusts of wind added another variable, making consistency difficult. At the end of the day, Miller completed the session in 19th position, with Razgatlıoğlu 21st.

The Thai Grand Prix resumes on Saturday morning with a final Free Practice session, immediately followed by the two 15-minute qualifying sessions that will decide the grid for both races. The 13-lap Sprint race is scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

It wasn’t the best Friday for us, as the weather definitely complicated things. We could see the dark clouds building and there was some hesitation about whether to switch to rain tyres. In the end, I missed that window a little and then tried to manage the situation with the scattered drops and the strong gusts of wind across the track.

Honestly, I felt better than what the final result shows. This morning was also a bit tricky because Moto2 and Moto3 left a lot of rubber on the track, so the feeling was different compared to the test. We understood why and adjusted the bike, and this afternoon I was much happier in terms of pace and overall feeling.

Part of me was actually curious to see the rain properly, because we haven’t tested this bike in wet conditions — both here and in Sepang the rainy days were when we weren’t riding.

Again today — and probably for the next few races — my focus is mainly on improving my riding style, especially by comparing my data with the other Yamaha riders, as that’s my main reference at the moment. Right now it looks like I need to improve particularly in Sector 1 and Sector 2. Today I managed to take a step in the first sector, but I still need a bigger improvement in the second.

One positive aspect is that I’m quite happy with my lap time. I know there is still more to find, but tomorrow we will focus more on the electronics to try to improve the pace over race distance. I’m really looking forward to my first qualifying session and my first Sprint race in MotoGP.
